Collaborative Design is a company based in the North East of England, specialising in bar interior design. As one of the region’s most established interior design companies, we’ve brought to life some of the North East’s favourite haunts, including Tup Tup Palace, Intermezzo, Barluga and Loja.

From concept to completion, the Collaborative Design team are known for their unmatched attention to detail, matching style with substance.

Our bar interior design process

Collaborative Design works on projects from the very beginning of the process, bringing our fresh, creative concepts to the table and allowing you to visualise how your vibrant new venue will look on completion.

How we work | Bar Interior Design specialists

We know that bar interior design is more than simply designing a concept. If your company is seeking out a new site, we can help. We’ll source potential locations alongside you, advise you on the likelihood of securing a license and planning permission before carrying out a full analysis of the premises to determine its operational potential.

Once the site is secured, we’ll produce plans, and apply for licenses and other permissions before designing the full concept for the venue. This is when you will see how your venue will look through our artist impressions and walk-through animation.

Next, you’ll see full drawings (shop fitting packages) for all the works. Once we’ve completed the final touches, we’ll organise the tendering process for you to create a fully costed project. Overseeing the project on-site, we’ll ensure everything runs smoothly, right through to completion.

We’ll be with you for the entire process, offering reliable, professional advice you can trust.

About our founder

Collaborative Design Founder, Chris Sutton has been designing bars, restaurants and venues for the last three decades. He first made his mark at BBC, designing its bars, restaurants and social spaces across the south of England. He later applied his talents to nightclub and bar interior design with the award-winning firm, GMP.

In the late 90s, he made the move to Newcastle, the city he’s called home ever since. There he became associate director of Blueprint Interior Design, the largest leisure design firm at the time before moving on to join the teams Apartment Group and Euro Hostels where he assisted the brands in expanding their venues across the country.

With a wealth of experience under his belt, Chris launched Collaborative Design to bring his expertise to bars and venues across the North East. His beautifully envisioned bar interior design concepts can be seen across the city.
